She researches the app, learns about Courtney, and that similar things have happened to other users of the app, but they are considered fake. Panicked, she buys a new phone, but discovers that the Countdown app has moved in. After being attacked by a demonic character, she meets Matt, whose countdown indicates that he will die a few hours before Quinn. But whatever the countdown app, why would she get in the car with her drunk girlfriend to go home? Even if he didn`t have the app, it would be in his best interest to leave, so what is the user agreement? Your countdown is waiting for you. Based on the countdown to the horror movie, this app predicts exactly how much time is left. Mark us in your countdown with #CountdownApp and #CountdownMovie to introduce into the app. The wait is over. EXPERIENCE COUNTDOWN – on Digital HD NOW, Blu-ray and DVD.— — — — VERTED: This app may not be suitable for users with epilepsy. This app contains vibrations, sounds, music, and using your iPhone burner to create the horror experience.— — — — Warning: This app is for entertainment purposes. At a party, Courtney, a teenager, is persuaded by her friends to download Countdown, an app that seems to predict how long a user will have to live. Courtney is shocked to be told that she has only 3 hours left to live. After avoiding getting into a car with her drunken boyfriend Evan, Courtney receives a notification that she has breached the “User Agreement.” When she returns home, she is attacked by an invisible entity and killed when her timer reaches zero.
At the same time, Evan crashes and a branch runs through the place where Courtney would have sat. In the film, a mysterious app predicts the date and time of its users` deaths – and everyone who installs it dies under mysterious circumstances at the scheduled time. As it says in the film`s advertising campaign: “Death? There is an app for this. In a funny twist, the trailer for the movie released this summer inspired an app designer, Ryan Boyling, to truly replicate the demonic clock. Yes, it has a user agreement. No, he doesn`t really know when you`ll die (at least I hope so). But just like in the movie, “Countdown” went viral; It is currently the number one entertainment app in Apple`s App Store. After watching the trailer, developer Ryan Boyling developed and released an app that generates random deaths that looks exactly like the movie. The app is available on both iOS and Android platforms and rose to the top of the App Store charts in October 2019. After the introduction of the configuration, the writer and director of the rookie Justin Dec takes care of the main story.
It starts with Quinn Harris (Elizabeth Lail), a freshly prepared nurse, in the same hospital where Evan will soon undergo surgery. Evan panics because his death app says he`s going to die on the operating table, and he also gets the dreaded “broken user contract” before dying in a chaotic and mysterious way. Countdown was released in U.S. theaters on October 25, 2019. [6] The trailer for the film premiered on September 13, 2019. [7] [8] STX Entertainment reportedly spent less than $15 million to promote the film. [9] The studio partnered with Amp Studios, led by YouTuber Brent Rivera, to promote the film on social media apps like TikTok. Quinn Harris, a nurse who works at the hospital where an injured Evan is admitted, frequently experiences sexual harassment from her boss, Dr. Sullivan, but is afraid to speak out because she is new. Evan tells him about Courtney and her suspicions about the app. He also reveals that he says he will die the time he has to undergo surgery. Quinn rejects his claims, but eventually downloads them.
She is horrified when she learns that she has only three days left. Evan skips his operation and is informed that he has violated the Terms of Use. He is killed by a demonic version of Courtney. This isn`t the first time the film has done strange things upside down to try to scare you. It takes place in the stairwell of a hospital, where a young man sees the back of his dead girlfriend sprinting him. (ew) He falls down the stairs in death. Whether it was because he was afraid or because the devil pushed him is not very clear. In fact, the comedy was pretty good, which saved the film from a totally terrible life. There was a strange priest and a cynical technician who were the funniest and most entertaining parts of the film, but in hindsight, it`s usually useless to the plot.
It`s a joke, it might make sense. Instead, there are more people downloading the app, including a Drhaving Quinn intern (Elizabeth Lail), whose selection indicates she only has a few days left to live. She spends the little time she has to get away from her sexually assaulted boss, Dr. Sullivan (Peter Facinelli), in a subplot #MeToo/Time`s Up that feels abused at best, exploited at worst. After being attacked by a demonic character, she meets Matt, whose countdown indicates that he will die a few hours before Quinn. A priest they consulted, Father John, identified the demon as Ozhin.
He theorizes that the curse can be broken if someone dies before the end of their countdown or lives after. They prepare a war circle to protect them from Ozhin`s attacks, but Matt is lured and killed by the Ozhinians, who have taken the form of his younger brother. The film relies heavily on scary music to tell the audience when to be scared – which for me is an escape horror film. If the only thing that is scary in the scene is the sound effect, then don`t do it right. In addition, the countdown has an average credit scene, although there is no sequel. Instead, the middle of the credits scene catches up with phone store owner Derek (Tom Segura), who has postponed his Tinder appointment to help Quinn and Matt hack the countdown app. Derek sees the scene at the end of his date that he thinks is fine, but that it seems to be going badly. The waiter tries to get her out and tells Derek that the restaurant closed half an hour ago. The waiter leaves and Derek`s appointment gets up to go to the bathroom. However, by cancelling its plans, it breaks the user`s agreement with the app. This part of the plot is not very well explained. But if you break the conditions by not going where you are supposed to go for your death, then a demon comes after you to kill you instead.
